How much does AI implementation cost in Indonesia?
Last updated · Published
Short answer
AI implementation in Indonesia costs across three parts: a one-off setup fee in the tens of millions of rupiah for a single process, monthly usage and subscription fees typically from hundreds of thousands to a few million rupiah, and the internal time of whoever reviews the output. The biggest driver is not the model, it is how messy your data is at the start.
Rough cost ranges by part
| Cost part | Rough range | What pushes it up |
|---|---|---|
| Audit and process mapping | One-off, smallest line | Many branches, undocumented processes |
| Setting up one process | One-off, tens of millions of rupiah | Messy data, legacy integrations |
| Usage and subscriptions | Monthly, hundreds of thousands to millions | Document or conversation volume |
| Review and correction | Monthly, internal people time | High risk, output not yet stable |
| Maintenance and fixes | Monthly or as needed | Business processes change often |
Three variables that set the number
First, the state of your data. Data already sitting in one system is far cheaper to work with than data spread across chats, spreadsheets, and handwritten notes. Cleaning it often takes half the project budget.
Second, the number of processes. One clear process is cheaper and safer than five at once. Third, integration depth: bolting onto existing tools is cheap, building something that talks to your POS and finance stack is not.
The cost most quotes leave out
People time. For the first few weeks someone has to read the output and correct what is wrong. Leave that out and the project looks cheap, then quietly stops being used.
The second omission is usage cost that scales with volume. Price it per transaction or per document, not only per month.
The cheapest way to start
Take the single most time-consuming process, cap it at one month, and name one number that must move. If it moves, continue to the next process. If it does not, you lost a month, not a year of budget.
Questions that come up most
- Can I start with a small budget?
- Yes, and you should. One process, one month, one measured number. Large upfront budgets usually buy things nobody ends up using.
- Why do vendor quotes differ so much?
- One priced data cleanup and review, the other priced only setup. Ask for the three cost parts above before comparing numbers.
- Off-the-shelf tools or something custom?
- Off-the-shelf is cheaper upfront and enough for most cases. Custom only makes sense when the process is unusual and already proven manually.
- How do I measure payback?
- With numbers you already track before starting: hours per week, revision counts, complaint counts. If they were not recorded first, payback cannot be proven.
